The museum of the shoe repair store reconstructs the atmosphere of the old(former) workshops(studios) of shoe repair store which populated the old market town. In the course of your visit, you will discover the way the albygeois shoemakers made history of Alby-sur-Chéran. Their development from the XIVth century to the XXth century testifies the strategical location of the village, which makes a place advantageous for the fleurissement of traditional activities. By their number, the quality of their know-how and their prosperity, the shoemakers strongly contributed to the construction of the identity of the place around small business sector(crafts). At present, the architecture of the place(square) of Trophy and its rows of arcades which sheltered stalls keeps(guards) the tracks of their works. Created in 1980 and installed(settled) in the medieval market town since 1999, the museum calls back(reminds) the history(story) of the village and of its activity across tools and machines left by the last craftsmen(architects).
