This guided tour presents the evolution of the fortification and its use from Séré de Rivières to the Maginot line.

The guided tour is commented by Nicolas Czubak, scientific advisor of the exhibition 'On ne passe pas! The fortifications, from the Séré de Rivières system to the Maginot line».
The land of contact between France and Germany, the East of France has always been a zone of fighting crossed by shifting borders.
To protect these borders, the construction of fortifications proliferates. Regularly attacked, the fortifications are modernized to resist ever more powerful means of destruction.
This route is based on the experience and testimonies of the men at the heart of the fortification system. It takes up step by step their evolutions: the design of the structures, the construction, the life of the crews occupying the forts and their fighting experience.
