Discovery of the trees of the world of yesterday and tomorrow
The CPIE Nancy-Champenoux and the INRAE Grand Est – Nancy Centre are organizing the launch of the permanent opening of the Arboretum d'Amance de Champenoux to the public.
Since 1900, the Arboretum of Amance is a place of recognition of trees, of pedagogy and of preservation.
This place, unique in Lorraine, gathers more than 2300 trees of about 300 different species from all over the world, from North America to Asia. In a century of existence, the Arboretum has provided many lessons and has made it possible to better understand the exotic species likely to develop under the Lorraine climate and on the soils of the Lorraine plain. In a context of global warming, the conservation and enrichment of collections has proved to be a real challenge.
The event aims to raise public awareness of ecological issues and the services provided by forests and trees. With family or friends you can discover the scientific, ecological and forest interest of the site through several activities.
On the program:
- Escape game on the forest,
- Guided tours of the world’s trees,
- Nature workshops for children,
- «At the foot of my tree» with young researchers,
- "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,"
- Mini outings on the secret world of mosses and mushrooms,
- Scientific workshops on ticks.
In the dynamic of the “Des Hommes et des Arbres” innovation region, led by the Métropole du Grand Nancy, in which CPIE and INRAE are share holders, The Arboretum of Amance will now be open permanently every day from 8am to 8pm in summer and from 8am to 6pm in winter. Reservation required for guided tours of groups and schools.
