Gisors has a long history(story) as chief military fortress between both Vexin, French and Norman. From the end of the XIth century s., an imposing clod made by earth and by stones, strengthened by trunks of internal wood is built by the second son of William the Conqueror. Above this clod, a first called fortification "shirt" and a big(great) wooden tower are raised(drawn up). From then on, the site is going to live in so much peace, in war period... Property of the king of England then of the king of France... Centre of military then administrative power... Lived then abandoned(given up)...
A fantastic history(story) which a guide will make you discover on two days through free commented presentations(displays) from 20 minutes till 10 h, 14 h, 16 h. The monument will also be in free and free access from 9 h till 18 h.
