The Archaeology Museum of Antibes is located in the bastion Saint-André. This was built in 1698 according to the plans of Vauban, as part of the improvement work he is having undertaken for the defense of Antibes. Although imposing today, the bastion Saint-André, or "bastion 17", was only a small part of the urban enclosure of Antibes, which it marked the southern end.
