The castle of Trohanet and its 23-hectare park designed by Denis Bühler in 1872, are listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments. Originally the castle was a 15th century mansion to which a facade was added in the 18th century. The estate was sold in 1696 to the Treouret family of Kerstrat by Marie de Penancoet de Keroualle, the mother of Louise de Keroualle, mistress of the King of England Charles II. Trohanet was one of the centers of Finistérian chouannerie during the Revolution. In 1848, Trohanet is acquired by Pierre Marie de La Grandière, the future admiral governor of Cochin-China. It is he who brings in Denis Bühler to redesign the park and make Trohanet a romantic park called "à l'anglaise": hilly park with many perspectives and the presence of a 4-hectare lake overlooked by the granite castle.
