Während des Baus der Universität von La Réunion in den 1970er Jahren war der Professor Thérésien Cadet, Botaniker und Ökologe, an der Initiative für die Stilllegung dieses Arboretums beteiligt.
Es vereint zahlreiche Arten der endemischen und indigenen Flora der Insel Réunion. Da La Réunion zu einem Hotspot der biologischen Vielfalt gehört, mit einer hohen Rate von Endemismus, sind viele Pflanzenarten derzeit gefährdet. Hier macht das Arboretum seinen ganzen Sinn, denn es ermöglicht sowohl die Erhaltung seltener Arten des floristischen Erbes von Réunion als auch dessen Zugänglichkeit für die uninformierte Öffentlichkeit.
Heute arbeiten Mitarbeiter und Studenten des Vereins "Auf den Spuren von Thérésien Cadet" zusammen, um das lebendige Erbe, das Thérésien Cadet im Arboretum hinterlassen hat, aufzuwerten. Sie erhalten kostenlose Führungen durch das Arboretum sowie das Museum.

During the construction of the University of La Réunion in the 1970s, Professor Thérésien Cadet, botanist and ecologist, was at the initiative of the emergence of this arboretum.
It brings together many species of the endemic and indigenous flora of Réunion Island. Since Réunion is part of a biodiversity hotspot, with a high rate of endemism, many plant species are currently endangered. This is where the arboretum comes into its own as it allows both to preserve rare species of Reunion’s floristic heritage and to make it accessible to the uninformed public.
Today, staff and students of the association "Sur les traces de Thérésien Cadet" work together to promote the living heritage bequeathed by Thérésien Cadet within the arboretum and offer free guided tours of the arboretum as well as the museum.

Durante la costruzione dell'Università della Riunione negli anni '70, il professore Thérésien Cadet, botanico ed ecologo, ha preso l'iniziativa di rimuovere questo arboreto dalla terra.
Riunisce numerose specie della flora endemica e indigena dell'isola di Réunion. Dato che la Riunione fa parte di un hotspot di biodiversità, con un alto tasso di endemismo, molte specie di piante sono attualmente in pericolo. È qui che l'arboreto ha il suo senso perché permette sia di preservare le specie rare del patrimonio floristico della Riunione e di renderlo accessibile al pubblico non avvisato.
Oggi, il personale e gli studenti dell'Associazione "Sulle orme di Thérésien Cadet" lavorano insieme per la valorizzazione del patrimonio vivente lasciato da Thérésien Cadet all'interno dell'arboreto e vi offrono visite guidate gratuite dell'arboreto e del museo.

Lors de la construction de l'Université de La Réunion dans les années 1970, le professeur Thérésien Cadet, botaniste et écologue, a été à l’initiative de la sortie de terre de cet arboretum.
Il rassemble de nombreuses espèces de la flore endémique et indigène de l’île de La Réunion. La Réunion faisant partie d’un hotspot de biodiversité, avec un fort taux d’endémisme, de nombreuses espèces de plantes sont à ce jour en danger. C’est là que l’arboretum prend tout son sens car il permet à la fois de préserver des espèces rares du patrimoine floristique réunionnais et de le rendre accessible au public non averti.
Aujourd'hui, personnels et étudiants de l'Association "Sur les traces de Thérésien Cadet" travaillent ensemble pour la valorisation du patrimoine vivant légué par Thérésien Cadet au sein de l'arboretum et vous proposent des visites guidées gratuites de l'arboretum ainsi que du musée.

Durante la construcción de la Universidad de La Reunión en los años 1970, el profesor Thérésien Cadet, botánico y ecólogo, tomó la iniciativa de sacar de tierra este arboreto.
Reúne numerosas especies de la flora endémica y autóctona de la isla de La Reunión. Reunión forma parte de un punto caliente de biodiversidad, con una alta tasa de endemismo, muchas especies de plantas están en peligro. Aquí es donde el arboreto cobra todo su sentido, ya que permite tanto preservar especies raras del patrimonio florístico de Reunión como hacerlo accesible al público no informado.
Hoy, el personal y los estudiantes de la Asociación "En las huellas de Thérésien Cadet" trabajan juntos para la valorización del patrimonio vivo legado por Thérésien Cadet dentro del arboretum y le ofrecen visitas guiadas gratuitas del arboretum así como del museo.
