In 1899, Jules Gravereaux, administrator of the Bon Marché, asked landscape architect Édouard André to design a garden for him to house his collection of rose bushes. The first single-varietal rose garden in the world is created. In 1906, the rose garden was enriched by a rose theatre that has now disappeared. It includes thirteen collection gardens arranged around the French rose garden. The rose garden today presents 3100 different species and varieties, and 16000 rose bushes.
