Welcome to the world of «origenical» Erik Satie!
The Houses of Satie host an original scenographic and musical journey paying homage to the musician and composer Erik Satie born here in 1866.
Erik Satie was a complete artist of the twentieth century. also devoted to literature and painting.
He collaborated with the greatest artists: Picasso, Picabia, Braque, Cocteau, René Clair and exercised his influence on such prestigious artists as Debussy, Ravel and Stravinsky.
Equipped with innovative headphones, the visitor is guided through a succession of musical paintings to the rhythm of Erik Satie’s work. The scenography, combining sound, light, image and objects in a setting as «fanciful» and «humorous» as Erik Satie could be, is aimed at young and not so young by offering a visit both playful and informative.
Much more than an exhibition, this visit involves the visitor in a unique setting. A show to see and to live that allows to discover the man, his music and his time.
A third house offers a space to present original works, a kind of amateur practice, in which are exhibited drawings of Satie as well as works of artists who have worked with him: Cocteau, Derain, Erté…
This space is accompanied by a merchandise shop and a computer documentation center dedicated to the life and work of Erik Satie.
