Located at the top of Mount Phaunus overlooking the Aure valley and the city of Bayeux, the place was always devoted to worship and first invested by the druids. Then by the ministry of Bishop Saint-Vigor and the catechumens, the site was definitively the place of residence of the Benedictines of the Abbey of Saint-Dominique of Dijon and this from the eleventh century. The priory, after seven centuries, will be closed in 1790, the buildings confiscated and sold as national property and a large part of them demolished. However the large wall delimiting the property, the main entrance with its porch of the thirteenth century and the barn with tithes "transformed into a chapel- as well as the buildings of the sixteenth century are today in the state.
