Subject to a favourable sanitary context, the Baron Gérard Museum offers students the opportunity to take out collections to have an overview and to situate the buildings in the heritage and historical context of the city of Bayeux. They will embark on an exciting visit where the city, architecture, scenography and collections are intertwined, along a narrative and historical thread that is particularly well crafted, if not in lace (to refer to one of the particularities of the city ) !
The tour begins with an outdoor tour, which will allow them to make the link between this former episcopal palace, recovered in the eighteenth by the public administration, and the history of the city. Then they will continue on a journey through time through collections and spaces.
How do a scenographer and an architect think of a museum?
It is by following Arnaud Frémy that they will discover this museum and open their eyes not only on the preserved works but also on the architecture and scenography that surround them.
Subject to the health context, a one-hour workshop may be held at the very end of the visit. Students will turn into conservative apprentices and imagine the little museum of their dreams… this latter formula was planned before the health crisis, but the context strongly challenges it. We will keep teachers informed of the final formula before the event.
