Exhibition: Agnès Rosenstiehl, 60 years of writing and illustration
Agnès Rosenstiehl, 60 Years of Writing and Illustration Her famous Mimi Cracra has marked several generations of her mischievous spirit, but the work of the author and illustrator Agnès Rosenstiehl is much broader than her facetious character. By mixing writing and drawing, she explored all the subjects that questioned her, with a unique, joyful and catchy freedom. The exhibition proposed by the Institut Mémoires de l'édition contemporaine and the Caen Library is the result of a selection, made by Agnès Rosenstiehl herself, of original creations presented for the first time to the public. It shows all the facets of a work marked by an unconditional taste for play with the meaning of words, for the musicality of the language, undoubtedly nourished by the years of apprenticeship at the National Conservatory of Music. From his works published in the 70s, such as De la coiffure, La naissance, Les filles, the feminist scope was retained. The same one that led La Ville Brûle to reissue these titles recently. The exhibition is an opportunity to discover or rediscover the amazing news of its societal and environmental statement. It also invites you to follow the many affinities of this great reader and this lover of the ancient arts, who borrowed from Egyptian art the so singular profile of Mimi. The exhibition is on all three levels of the library. It is open to the public during library hours. Presentation times are also offered. It is accompanied by a playful visit booklet. Following the competition, Agnès Rosenstiehl will offer the best participants a copy of Drôle de dictionnaire… by Mimi Cracra, published by Chemins De Traverse Jeunesse.
