2 Rue Henri IV, 78100 Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France
The museum was created in 1872 from the very rich collection of artworks bequeathed by Louis-Alexandre Ducastel. It has since continued to grow thanks to the donations of art lovers and artists from Saint-Germany, including sculptor Honoré Icard, painters François Bonvin, Édouard Detaille, Maurice Denis, and especially Paul Vera and his brother André, urban planner and garden theorist, who, in 1968, gave the City many works and the entire fund of their workshop. The Museum has been awarded the "Musée de France" label since 2002\. The Municipal Collections Service ensures the preservation, restoration, study and public presentation of nearly 9,000 works ranging from Egyptian antiquity to the early 20th century, including a vast graphic collection (drawings and prints) and one of the best preserved apothecaries in France. Since 2021, the museum has been named after Ducastel-Vera.
