At the university library, follow the Archimuse association and explore the library’s old rooms to discover the secret stories and hidden corners!
Three guided tours are offered to evoke the creation and past of the former faculty of medicine and pharmacy through its architecture, period furniture, testimonies and varied anecdotes. Extend your visit by meeting the association Archimuse for a presentation-discovery of old works from the collections of the documentary heritage of the University of Bordeaux. We have chosen to show you how in the eighteenth century, French scientific expeditions changed our vision of the world and prepared today’s innovations such as GPS, useful on a daily basis for our itineraries, our methods of travel or communication.
Go to Ecuador and with the explorer and astronomer Charles Marie de La Condamine, walk the meridian of Quito then with Humboldt and Bonpland, climb the Chimborazo, the highest volcano in the world.
Finally, give yourself a little break. For you it will be: tea, coffee or chocolate? Three curious little medical treatises from the very end of the 17th century will be an opportunity to evoke and reconsider our uses of these drinks once unknown and now «globalized» that have long passed through the port of Bordeaux.
To close the visit, available for young and old, coloring inspired by our heritage collections and some gourmet recipes to collect.
