This conference will trace the classification of the Giants in the UNESCO Heritage, particularly those of Douai and Cassel, and the place that this living Heritage has occupied for generations in the identity of a city and a region. The Giants and processional dragons of Belgium and France were inscribed in the oral and intangible heritage in 2008. A beautiful living folklore that the Palace of Fine Arts honors.

Cette conférence retracera le classement des Géants au Patrimoine de l’Unesco notamment ceux de Douai et Cassel et la place que ce Patrimoine vivant occupe depuis des générations dans l’identité d’une ville et d’une région. Les Géants et les dragons processionnels de Belgique et de France ont été inscrits dans le patrimoine oral et immatériel en 2008. Un beau folklore vivant que le Palais des Beaux-Arts met à l’honneur.

Deze conferentie zal de classificatie van de reuzen in het UNESCO-erfgoed, met name die van Douai en Cassel, en de plaats die dit levende erfgoed al generaties lang bezet in de identiteit van een stad en een regio. De reuzen en processionele draken van België en Frankrijk werden in 2008 ingeschreven in het orale en immateriële erfgoed. Een mooie levende folklore die het Paleis voor schone Kunsten eert.
