Wie konnten etwa 70 eingewanderte Vögel, die heute in Karlsruhe aufbewahrt werden, weit von ihrer ursprünglichen Sammlung in Colmar entfernt sein?
Mathilde Haentzler und Claire Prêtre präsentieren die Ergebnisse einer gemeinsamen Untersuchung des Staatlichen Museums für Naturkunde Karlsruhe mit dem Museum für Naturgeschichte und Ethnographie. Das Studium von Etiketten, alten Katalogen und Archiven ermöglichte es, die Geschichte dieser Exemplare nachzuvollziehen und zu zeigen, dass sie während der deutschen Annexion des Elsass zwischen 1940 und 1945 nach Karlsruhe verbracht worden waren.
Diese Forschung lädt uns ein, die bewegte Geschichte der naturalistischen Kollektionen des Collegiate zu entdecken und zu verstehen, wie das Werk seiner Herkunft heute zu ihrer Geschichte und ihrer möglichen Wiederherstellung beitragen kann.

How did nearly 70 stuffed birds, now kept in Karlsruhe, end up far from their original collection in Colmar?
Mathilde Haentzler and Claire Prêtre present the results of a survey conducted jointly by the Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Karlsruhe and the Museum of Natural History and Ethnography. The study of labels, old catalogs and archives made it possible to trace the history of these specimens and to show that they had been moved to Karlsruhe during the German annexation of Alsace, between 1940 and 1945.
This research invites us to discover the eventful history of the Colmarian naturalist collections and to understand how work of provenance can contribute today to their history and to their possible restitution.

Mathilde Haentzler e Claire Prêtre presentano i risultati di un'indagine condotta congiuntamente dallo Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Karlsruhe e dal Museo di storia naturale e di etnografia. Lo studio delle etichette, dei cataloghi antichi e degli archivi ha permesso di ricostruire la storia di questi esemplari e di mostrare che erano stati trasferiti a Karlsruhe durante l'annessione tedesca dell'Alsazia, tra il 1940 e il 1945.
Questa ricerca ci invita a scoprire la storia turbolenta delle collezioni naturalistiche collezionistiche e a comprendere come il lavoro di provenienza possa contribuire oggi alla loro storia e alla loro eventuale restituzione.

Comment près de 70 oiseaux naturalisés, aujourd’hui conservés à Karlsruhe, se sont-ils retrouvés loin de leur collection d’origine à Colmar ?
Mathilde Haentzler et Claire Prêtre présentent les résultats d’une enquête menée conjointement par le Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Karlsruhe et le Museum d'histoire naturelle et d’ethnographie. L’étude des étiquettes, des catalogues anciens et des archives a permis de retracer l’histoire de ces spécimens et de montrer qu’ils avaient été déplacés à Karlsruhe pendant l’annexion allemande de l’Alsace, entre 1940 et 1945.
Cette recherche nous invite à découvrir l’histoire mouvementée des collections naturalistes colmariennes et à comprendre comment le travail de provenance peut contribuer aujourd’hui à leur histoire et à leur éventuelle restitution.

El estudio de las etiquetas, de los catálogos antiguos y de los archivos ha permitido trazar la historia de estos especímenes y mostrar que habían sido trasladados a Karlsruhe durante la anexión alemana de Alsacia, entre 1940 y 1945.
