Born in Maubeuge among a sibling of dancers, Sofiane Chalal chose to place his body said "out of norms" at the heart of his work. Après Ma part d'ombre, an intimate solo played more than 150 times, he broadens the focus with XXL. Four performers now share the stage, all concerned by the same experience, that of being perceived as "too much". Too big, too heavy, too visible. From their daily life, their bodies and their narrative, Sofiane Chalal composes a choreographic writing that thwarts the oxymorons—power and lightness, precision and overflow—to better defuse the grossophobic gaze. Because XXL is a light room, where laughter acts as a weapon and balm. A way of making certainties waver and transforming rejection into collective momentum.

Né à Maubeuge dans une fratrie de danseurs, Sofiane Chalal a choisi de placer son corps dit « hors normes » au coeur de son travail. Après Ma part d’ombre, solo intime joué plus de 150 fois, il élargit la focale avec XXL. Quatre interprètes partagent désormais le plateau, tous concernés par la même expérience, celle d’être perçu comme « trop ». Trop grand, trop lourd, trop visible. À partir de leur quotidien, de leur corps et de leur récit, Sofiane Chalal compose une écriture chorégraphique qui déjoue les oxymores — puissance et légèreté, précision et débordement — pour mieux désamorcer le regard grossophobe. Car XXL se veut une pièce légère, où le rire agit comme une arme et un baume. Une façon de faire vaciller les certitudes et de transformer le rejet en élan collectif.

Sofiane Chalal, geboren in Maubeuge in een familie van dansers, koos ervoor om haar lichaam "out of the ordinary" in het hart van haar werk te plaatsen. Na Ma Part d'Ombre speelde intieme solo meer dan 150 keer en wordt de brandpuntsafstand met XXL vergroot. Vier performers delen nu de set, allen met dezelfde ervaring, die van "te veel". Te groot, te zwaar, te zichtbaar. Op basis van hun dagelijks leven, hun lichaam en hun verhaal, componeert Sofiane Chalal een choreografisch schrift dat oxymorons, kracht en lichtheid, precisie en overflow, voor de gek houdt om de grossofobische blik beter te ontwijken. Omdat XXL een lichtstuk wil zijn, waar gelach fungeert als wapen en balsem. Een manier om zekerheden te wankelen en afwijzing om te zetten in een collectief momentum.
