For this new edition of the European Night of Museums, the LaM opens its doors free of charge until midnight. Come and enjoy flash tours, performances, but also workshops throughout the evening.
On the agenda:

Performance Clockwork by artists Gerard & Kelly
Discovery of the Kandinsky face aux images exhibition and the Obsession itinerary alongside the museum’s mediators._
Kamishibai – 2 storytelling sessions to discover the fabulous story of Kandinsky. (9 p.m. and 10 p.m., ages 5 to 10)
Workshop "Kandinsky’s celestial vault" continuously until 9 p.m. Come and participate in the LaM’s large collaborative fresco, drawing inspiration from Kandinsky’s universe and the images that fascinate him, especially those related to the cosmos and space.

By accepting the Masurel donation in 1979, Arthur Notebart, who was then President of the Urban Community of Lille, committed the local authority to an adventure that had not previously been within its remit. An association law 1901 was therefore created for the management of the museum of modern art and its statutes allowed to structure and organize the functioning of the Museum.
Pierre Chaigneau was then recruited as a curator to set up a program faithful to the act of donation that specified the wills of Geneviève and Jean Masurel. This program was to find its place in the building that the architect Roland Simounet was commissioned to build in the new town of Villeneuve-d'Ascq.
The fruitful dialogues between donors, architect and curator led to the opening in 1983 of a museum combining perfectly the functions of conservation and dissemination through permanent and temporary exhibition rooms, a sculpture park, an auditorium, a library, an educational and cultural service. Acceso

– by road: 20 min. from Lille Flandres station, Paris-Gand motorway (A1/A22/N227), exit 5 or 6 Flers/ Château/ Musée d'art moderne. -Parking: -The reserved PMR parking spaces are located just before the roundabout of the Museum’s driveway, facing the entrance pavilion of the museum. -2 public car parks (not monitored) are available: parking P7 (called Des Moulins – maximum height: 1.80m). The P8 Parking (maximum height: 1.80m), right next to the museum, but smaller.
