After 30 years of dictatorship, the portrait of a Sudanese youth, who by his words, poems and creations defies military repression and fights for his dreams of democracy. By crossing their itineraries, Hind Meddeb articulates the fragments of an impossible revolution, from its promising beginnings until the war destroys everything, putting the Sudanese on the roads of exile. Gradually, the links are woven throughout a correspondence between the director and the protagonists of the film.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the association Sound of Soudan.

Après 30 ans de dictature, le portrait d'une jeunesse soudanaise, qui par ses mots, poèmes et créations défie la répression militaire et lutte pour ses rêves de démocratie. En croisant leurs itinéraires, Hind Meddeb articule les fragments d'une révolution impossible, de ses débuts prometteurs jusqu'à ce que la guerre détruise tout, mettant les Soudanais sur les routes de l'exil. Progressivement, les liens se tissent au fil d'une correspondance entre la réalisatrice et les protagonistes du film.
La projection sera suivie d’un échange avec l’association Sound of Soudan.

Na 30 jaar dictatuur, het portret van een Soedanese jeugd, wiens woorden, gedichten en creaties militaire onderdrukking trotseren en vechten voor hun dromen van democratie. Over hun routes verspreidt Hind Meddeb fragmenten van een onmogelijke revolutie, van het veelbelovende begin tot de oorlog alles vernietigt, waardoor de Soedanezen op de weg van ballingschap belanden. Geleidelijk aan worden de banden geweven door een correspondentie tussen de regisseur en de hoofdrolspelers van de film.
De screening zal worden gevolgd door een uitwisseling met de vereniging Sound of Sudan.
