Der Künstler erkundet ein neues kreatives Terrain, nachdem er sich in seiner Malerei lange Zeit den Bergen und Gletschern gewidmet hat.
Ab 2018 und dann während der gesamten Zeit des Containments schafft Bernard Garo eine Stele aus Papier, die er in verschiedenen Geografien der Welt fotografiert, um die Verletzlichkeit des Lebens auszudrücken, mit anderen Worten den Verfall im Laufe der Zeit.
Dieses Originalstück, das zum ersten Mal ausgestellt wird, ist das zentrale Element seiner Installation. Ohne dieses Artefakt wäre die Bedeutung, die den Fotografien von natürlichen und archäologischen Stätten beigemessen wird, eine ganz andere. Dieser Fremdkörper, für die Künstlerin eine Metapher für die Menschheit, ermöglicht es somit, unsere eigene Verletzlichkeit, aber auch die der natürlichen Elemente unter menschlichem Einfluss zu hinterfragen. Er spielt die Rolle eines zeitlichen Enthüllers.
Diese fotografische Arbeit führte im Rahmen des Aufenthalts zu einer Reihe von Papierkreationen. So zum Beispiel dieses Einzelstück aus Graphit im Zusammenhang mit der Skarifizierung von Gletschern oder dieser Wald aus schwebenden, durchscheinenden Stelen, die mit Tusche und Brou de noix, einem natürlichen Farbstoff, der aus der Rinde gewonnen wird, hergestellt wurden.
Diese zweite Sequenz bietet die Gelegenheit, Verbindungen zwischen dem künstlerischen Ansatz des Künstlers und den Forschungsarbeiten von Paläontologen und Mineralogen des Naturhistorischen Museums in Genf zum Ausdruck zu bringen.

The artist explores a new creative terrain after a long pictorial period devoted to mountains and glaciers.
Beginning in 2018, and then throughout the period of confinement, Bernard Garo creates a paper stele that he photographs in various geographies of the world in order to express the vulnerability of life, in other words, the degradation under the test of time.
Exhibited for the first time, this original piece is the central element of his installation. Without this artifact, the meaning given to photographs of natural and archaeological sites would be quite different. This foreign body, a metaphor of humanity for the artist, thus allows us to question our own vulnerability but also that of natural elements under human influence. It plays a role of temporal revelation.
This photographic work has given birth to a set of creations on paper during the residency. Such as this unique piece made with graphite in connection with the scarification of glaciers or this forest of translucent steles in suspension made with Indian ink and Brou de noix, a natural coloring agent extracted from the bark.
This second sequence is an opportunity to express the links between the artist's artistic approach and the research work carried out by paleontologists and mineralogists at the Geneva Museum of Natural History.

L'artiste explore un nouveau terrain de création après une longue période picturale consacrée à la montagne et aux glaciers.
Dès 2018, puis pendant tout le temps du confinement, Bernard Garo crée une stèle de papier qu’il photographie en diverses géographies du monde afin d’exprimer la vulnérabilité de la vie, autrement dit la dégradation à l’épreuve du temps.
Exposée pour la première fois, cette pièce originale est l’élément central de son installation. Sans cet artefact, le sens accordé aux photographies des sites naturels comme des sites archéologiques serait bien différent. Ce corps étranger, métaphore de l’humanité pour l’artiste, permet ainsi d’interroger notre propre vulnérabilité mais aussi celles des éléments naturels sous influence humaine. Elle joue un rôle de révélateur temporel.
Ce travail photographique a donné naissance dans le cadre de la résidence à un ensemble de créations sur papiers. Telle cette pièce unique réalisée au graphite en lien avec la scarification des glaciers ou cette forêt de stèles translucides en suspension réalisées à l’encre de Chine et au Brou de noix, colorant naturel extrait de l’écorce.
Cette seconde séquence est l’occasion d’exprimer des liens entre la démarche artistique de l’artiste et des travaux de recherche menés par des paléontologues et des minéralogistes du Muséum d’histoire naturelle de Genève.
