Geneva, 1899. Théodore Flournoy publishes Des Indes à la planète Mars, a book that enjoys international success. The book offers a scientific interpretation of the mediumistic sessions during which Élise Müller, a Genevan woman he renames Hélène Smith, displays supranormal talents. Her stories and artistic work are rapidly being shown in major European institutions, most recently at the Venice Biennale.
The exhibition follows the medium's journey as a woman, and recreates the social space in which she lived.

The "Couloir des coups d'œil" offers the public a fresh look at the collections of the Bibliothèque de Genève. By displaying reproductions, the public is invited to discover documents based on a theme or personality, without the conservation constraints associated with the presentation of originals. In this way, archival, printed and iconographic collections are brought to light, inventoried and accessible to all. Through these displays, the results of the work carried out by the Library team are made visible and meaningful.
