After Kevin, Arnaud Hoedt and Jérôme Piron find their long-time accomplice, Antoine Defoort, and tackle a subject as banal as it is dizzying: why is it so difficult to debate without turning the other into an adversary? Behind the lightness, they explore the mechanisms that shape our opinions, our disagreements and our chronic inability to listen to those who do not think like us. They dissect our cognitive biases, our lack of reciprocity, and our far too comfortable narrative coherences. The audience, telephone in hand, becomes a volunteer guinea pig. The issue, in essence, is democracy itself—a fragile concept that allows us to coexist without necessarily agreeing. With this trio as serious as playful, reflection is not lacking in air. We emerge from the debate less sure of being right.

Après Kevin, Arnaud Hoedt et Jérôme Piron retrouvent leur complice de longue date, Antoine Defoort, et s’attaquent à un sujet aussi banal que vertigineux : pourquoi est-il si difficile de débattre sans transformer l’autre en adversaire ? Derrière la légèreté, ils explorent les mécanismes qui façonnent nos opinions, nos désaccords et notre incapacité chronique à écouter ceux qui ne pensent pas comme nous. Ils dissèquent nos biais cognitifs, notre manque de réciprocité et nos cohérences narratives bien trop confortables. Le public, téléphone en main, devient cobaye volontaire. L’enjeu, au fond, c’est la démocratie elle-même — ce concept fragile qui nous permet de coexister sans forcément nous accorder. Avec ce trio aussi sérieux que joueur, la réflexion ne manque pas d’air. On ressort du débat moins sûr d’avoir raison.

Na _Kevin_ontmoeten Arnaud Hoedt en Jerome Piron hun langjarige medeplichtige Antoine Defoort en pakken ze een onderwerp aan dat zo banaal als duizelingwekkend is: Waarom is het zo moeilijk om te debatteren zonder de ander in een tegenstander te veranderen? Achter lichtheid onderzoeken ze de mechanismen die onze meningen vormen, onze meningsverschillen en ons chronisch onvermogen om te luisteren naar degenen die niet denken zoals wij. Ze ontleden onze cognitieve vooroordelen, ons gebrek aan wederkerigheid, en onze verhalende coherentie, maar al te comfortabel. Het publiek, de telefoon in de hand, wordt een vrijwillig proefkonijn. Het gaat in wezen om de democratie zelf, dit fragiele concept dat ons in staat stelt naast elkaar te leven zonder dat we het er noodzakelijkerwijs over eens zijn. Met dit trio zo ernstig als het is een speler, ontbreekt de reflectie niet aan lucht. Het debat is minder zeker dat het gelijk heeft.
