Castell Vell ist eine Festung andalusischen Ursprungs. Er war bis zur Eroberung durch Jakob I. im Jahr 1233 Kreisleiter, der das Gebiet zwischen Almassora und Castelló aufteilte. Die Gewährung des Transferprivilegs an seine Bewohner im Jahr 1251 war der Ursprung der Stadt Castelló.

Castell Vell is a fortification of Andalusian origin. It was head of district until the conquest of James I in 1233, who divided the territory between Almassora and Castelló. The granting to its inhabitants of the Privilege of Transfer in 1251 was the origin of the city of Castelló.
