Mit der Leidenschaft für die indigenen Völker der Arktis und ihrer körperlich geprägten Kultur ging Tiina Itkonen in den 1990er Jahren nach Grönland. Sie macht dort eines ihrer ersten Fotos und es ist nur der Anfang eines langen Abenteuers.
Denn seitdem hat Tiina Itkonen Grönland nie wirklich verlassen. Während ihrer Reisen lernt die Fotografin die Grundlagen der lokalen Sprache, um mit ihren Motiven kommunizieren zu können. Im Jahr 2004 veröffentlichte sie ihr erstes Buch über die Inughuit, eine grönländische Inuit-Minderheit in der Region Thule. Entlang der grönländischen Küste durchquert Tiina Itkonen diese eisigen, schwer befahrbaren Gebiete: Schlitten, Segelboot, Hubschrauber, Flugzeug, Tanker... Alle Mittel sind gut, um die kleinen verlorenen Dörfer am Ende des Eises zu verbinden, um den Alltag und die Gewohnheiten der grönländischen Bevölkerung zu dokumentieren.
Im Zuge dieser Arbeit, die ihr internationale Anerkennung bringt, setzt die Fotografin ihre Projekte rund um die Arktis weiter fort. indem wir uns ein wenig mehr auf diese Landschaften konzentrieren, die sich im Zuge der globalen Erwärmung und des menschlichen Einflusses auf dieses zwischen Himmel und Eis liegende Land verändern.

Im September 2023 ging Yveline Bouquard für drei Wochen an Bord eines Segelbootes, das die Ostküste Grönlands in der Nähe des Scoresby-Fjords bereiste.
Ein unvorstellbarer Katalog von Formen, Massen, Farben, Texturen und Lichtern, der ihm ein umfangreiches Repertoire an Inspirationen für Bilder, Eindrücke und Emotionen lieferte." Nachdem ich mich seit Jahren von Texten und Bildern über diese arktischen Regionen ernährt hatte, die mich faszinieren, nachdem ich sie nach meiner Intuition und Vorstellung gemalt und gezeichnet hatte, brauchte ich die konkrete Erfahrung der Reise, dorthin zu gehen, wo die Berge das Meer einschließen", erzählt der Künstler.
Die Künstlerin amüsiert sich mit dem Sichtbaren und dem Unsichtbaren der Gletscher, die sich inmitten des Eises kreuzen, das beim Vorrücken des Bootes knackt, pétillert und singt, während es still wird. Stille, gestört durch die Explosionen der Gletscher, die in der Hitze Eisberge spucken.

It is with a passion for the indigenous peoples of the Arctic and their deeply rooted culture that Tiina Itkonen left for Greenland in the 1990s. She took one of her very first photos there and it was only the beginning of a long adventure.
Since then, Tiina Itkonen has never really left Greenland. Throughout her travels, the photographer learns the rudiments of local language to be able to communicate with her subjects. In 2004, she published her first book on the Inughuit, a Greenlandic Inuit minority from the Thule region. Along the coasts of Greenland, Tiina Itkonen criss-crosses these icy lands that are difficult to navigate: sleigh, sailboat, helicopter, plane, tanker... All means are good to connect the small villages lost at the end of the ice to document the daily life and customs of the Greenlandic people.
In the wake of this work, which earned her international recognition, the photographer is still pursuing her projects around the Arctic, by focusing a little more on these landscapes that change with global warming and human influence on this earth caught between sky and ice.

In September 2023, Yveline Bouquard embarked for three weeks aboard a sailboat sailing on the east coast of Greenland, near the Scoresby fjord.
An unimaginable catalogue of shapes, masses, colors, textures and lights that provided him with a vast repertoire of inspirations of images, impressions and emotions." After having fed myself, for years, with texts and images about these arctic regions that fascinate me, after painting and drawing them according to my intuition and imagination, I needed the concrete experience of traveling, of going where the mountains surround the sea", says the artist.
The visual artist plays with the visible and invisible aspects of glaciers that cross each other in the middle of the ice, which crackles, fizzes and sings as the boat moves forward and falls silent. Silences disturbed by the explosions of glaciers which, in the heat, spew icebergs.

È con la passione per le popolazioni indigene dell'Artico e la loro cultura toccata al corpo che Tiina Itkonen parte verso la Groenlandia negli anni '90. Lì realizza una delle sue prime foto e questo è solo l'inizio di una lunga avventura.
Da allora, Tiina Itkonen non ha mai lasciato la Groenlandia. Nel corso dei suoi viaggi, la fotografa impara i rudimenti del linguaggio locale per poter comunicare con i suoi soggetti. Nel 2004, ha pubblicato il suo primo libro sugli Inughuit, una minoranza inuit groenlandese della regione di Thule. Lungo le coste della Groenlandia, Tiina Itkonen solca queste terre ghiacciate difficilmente percorribili: slitta, barca a vela, elicottero, aereo, petroliera... Tutti i mezzi sono buoni per collegare i piccoli villaggi persi alla fine del ghiaccio per documentare la vita quotidiana e gli usi e costumi del popolo groenlandese.
Sulla scia di questo lavoro che le ha valso un riconoscimento internazionale, la fotografa continua ancora i suoi progetti intorno all'Artico, concentrandosi un po' di più su questi paesaggi che cambiano a seconda del riscaldamento globale e dell'influenza dell'uomo su questa terra presa tra il cielo e il ghiaccio.

Nel settembre 2023, Yveline Bouquard ha trascorso tre settimane a bordo di una barca a vela lungo la costa orientale della Groenlandia, vicino al fiordo di Scoresby.
Un inimmaginabile catalogo di forme, masse, colori, texture e luci che gli ha fornito un vasto repertorio di ispirazioni di immagini, impressioni ed emozioni." Dopo essermi nutrito, da anni, di testi e immagini su queste regioni artiche che mi affascinano, dopo averle dipinte e disegnate secondo la mia intuizione e il mio immaginario, ho avuto bisogno dell'esperienza concreta del viaggio, di andare dove le montagne racchiudono il mare", racconta l'artista.
La plasticiana si diverte con il visibile e l'invisibile dei ghiacciai che si incrociano in mezzo al ghiaccio che crolla, scintilla e canta mentre la barca avanza e i silenzi. Silenzi turbati dalle esplosioni dei ghiacciai che, sotto il calore, sputano iceberg.

C’est avec la passion pour les peuples indigènes de l’Arctique et leur culture chevillée au corps que Tiina Itkonen part pour le Groenland dans les années 1990. Elle y réalise l’une de ses toutes premières photos et ce n’est que le début d’une longue aventure.
Car depuis, Tiina Itkonen n’a jamais vraiment quitté le Groenland. Au fil de ses voyages, la photographe apprend les rudiments du langage local pour pouvoir communiquer avec ses sujets. En 2004, elle publie son premier livre sur les Inughuit, une minorité inuit groenlandaise de la région de Thulé. Le long des côtes du Groenland, Tiina Itkonen sillonne ces terres glacées difficilement praticables : traineau, voilier, hélicoptère, avion, tanker… Tous les moyens sont bons pour relier les petits villages perdus au bout de la glace pour documenter le quotidien et les us et coutumes du peuple groenlandais.
Dans le sillage de ce travail qui lui vaut une reconnaissance internationale, la photographe poursuit encore ses projets autour de l’Arctique, en se concentrant un peu plus sur ces paysages changeant au gré du réchauffement climatique et de l’emprise de l’homme sur cette terre prise entre ciel et glace.

En septembre 2023, Yveline Bouquard a embarqué pendant trois semaines à bord d’un voilier naviguant sur les côtes est du Groenland, près du fjord Scoresby.
Un inimaginable catalogue de formes, de masses, de couleurs, de textures et de lumières qui lui a fourni un vaste répertoire d'inspirations d’images, d’impressions et d’émotions. "Après m’être nourrie, depuis des années, de textes et d’images sur ces régions arctiques qui me fascinent, après les avoir peintes et dessinées selon mon intuition et mon imaginaire, j’ai eu besoin de l’expérience concrète du voyage, d’aller là où les montagnes enserrent la mer", raconte l'artiste.
La plasticienne s’amuse avec le visible et l’invisible des glaciers qui se croisent au milieu de la glace qui crépite, pétille et chante au fil de l’avancée du bateau et des silences. Silences troublés par les explosions des glaciers qui, sous la chaleur, crachent des icebergs.

Desde entonces, Tiina Itkonen nunca ha salido realmente de Groenlandia. A lo largo de sus viajes, la fotógrafa aprende los rudimentos del lenguaje local para poder comunicarse con sus sujetos. En 2004, publica su primer libro sobre los inughuit, una minoría inuit groenlandesa de la región de Thule. A lo largo de las costas de Groenlandia, Tiina Itkonen navega por estas tierras heladas difíciles de recorrer: tren, velero, helicóptero, avión, petrolero... Todos los medios son buenos para conectar los pequeños pueblos perdidos al final del hielo para documentar la vida cotidiana y las costumbres del pueblo groenlandés.
A raíz de este trabajo, que le valió un reconocimiento internacional, la fotógrafa continúa con sus proyectos alrededor del Ártico, centrándose un poco más en estos paisajes cambiantes según el calentamiento global y la influencia del hombre sobre esta tierra atrapada entre cielo y hielo.

Después de haberme alimentado, desde hace años, con textos e imágenes sobre estas regiones árticas que me fascinan, después de haberlas pintado y dibujado según mi intuición e imaginario, he necesitado la experiencia concreta del viaje, de ir a donde las montañas encierran el mar", relata el artista.
La artista plástica se divierte con lo visible y lo invisible de los glaciares que se cruzan en medio del hielo que cruza, chispaja y canta a medida que avanza el barco y los silencios. Silencios perturbados por las explosiones de los glaciares que, bajo el calor, escupen iceberg.
