Eine Katze "eine Katze" zu nennen, den Dingen um uns herum einen richtigen Namen zu geben, bedeutet zu versuchen, zu wissen, worüber man spricht und die Welt zu verstehen. In allen Sprachen und zu allen Zeiten nennen die Menschen alles, was ihrem Weg begegnet: das Lebendige wie das Unbelebte, die anderen Menschen wie die Nichtmenschlichen, das, was auf der Erde ist oder was man im Himmel sieht. Beim Benennen unterscheidet man, klassifiziert, wertet oder ... entwertet. Benennen ist eine Macht, die Auswirkungen auf die Welt hat.
Diese Macht stellt die Ausstellung Naming the living, telling the world zur Frage. Angesichts der Fülle der Welt scheint es notwendig zu sein, die Arten zu identifizieren und sich auf ihre Namen zu einigen. Volkswissen und wissenschaftliches Wissen koexistieren, die verschiedenen Arten, die Dinge der Welt zu klassifizieren, haben jeweils ihre eigene Logik. Die Entdeckungen stellen jedoch regelmäßig sowohl die Klassifikationen als auch die Richtigkeit der Namen in Frage, die dann geändert werden müssen. Durch die Reise durch Zeit und Raum wird der Besucher eingeladen, dank der Werkzeuge der linguistischen Anthropologie und der Wissenschaftsgeschichte seinen Platz im Leben zu erkunden. Da eine große Macht auch große Verantwortung mit sich bringt, welche sind die Verantwortlichen der Menschen, der Sprachwesen in diesem ersten Viertel des 21. Jahrhunderts?

Name the living, say the world
Calling a cat 'a cat', giving a right name to the things that surround us is seeking to know what we are talking about, to understand the world. In all languages and throughout time, humans name everything that crosses their path: the living as the inert, other humans as non-humans, what is on Earth or what we see in the sky. By naming, we distinguish, classify, we value or ... we devalue. Naming is a power that has effects on the world.
It is this power that the exhibition Nommer le vivant, dire le monde proposes to question. Faced with the proliferation of the world, it seems necessary to identify the species, to agree on their name. Popular and scientific knowledge coexist, the different ways of classifying things in the world each have their logic. However, discoveries regularly question both the classifications and the accuracy of names, which then need to be changed. By traveling through time and space, the visitor is invited, thanks to the tools of linguistic anthropology and the history of science, to explore his place within living things. Since great power implies great responsibilities, what are those of humans, language beings, in this first quarter of the 21st century?

Chiamare un gatto "un gatto", dare un nome giusto alle cose che ci circondano, è cercare di sapere di cosa si parla, di capire il mondo. In tutte le lingue e in tutti i tempi, gli esseri umani chiamano ogni cosa che incontra il loro cammino: ciò che è vivente o inerte, gli altri esseri umani o non umani, ciò che si trova sulla Terra o ciò che si vede nel cielo. Nominando, si distingue, si classifica, si valorizza o ... si svaluta. Nominare è un potere che ha effetti sul mondo.
È questo potere che la mostra Nommer le vivant, dire le monde propone di interrogare. Di fronte alla proliferazione del mondo, sembra necessario identificare le specie, accordarsi sul loro nome. Il sapere popolare e quello scientifico convivono, i diversi modi di classificare le cose del mondo hanno ciascuno una propria logica. Tuttavia, le scoperte mettono regolarmente in discussione sia le classificazioni che la correttezza dei nomi, che devono quindi essere modificati. Viaggiando attraverso il tempo e lo spazio, il visitatore è invitato, grazie agli strumenti dell'antropologia linguistica e della storia delle scienze, a esplorare il suo posto all'interno del vivente. Poiché un grande potere implica grandi responsabilità, quali sono quelle degli esseri umani, di coloro che parlano la lingua, in questo primo quarto del ventunesimo secolo?

Appeler un chat « un chat », donner un nom juste aux choses qui nous entourent, c’est chercher à savoir de quoi on parle, à comprendre le monde. Dans toutes les langues et de tout temps, les humains nomment tout ce qui croise leur chemin : le vivant comme l’inerte, les autres humains comme les non-humains, ce qui est sur la Terre ou ce qu’on voit dans le ciel. En nommant, on distingue, on classe, on valorise ou … on dévalorise. Nommer est un pouvoir qui a des effets sur le monde.
C’est ce pouvoir que l’exposition Nommer le vivant, dire le monde propose d’interroger. Devant le foisonnement du monde, il semble nécessaire d’identifier les espèces, de s’entendre sur leur nom. Savoirs populaires et scientifiques cohabitent, les différentes manières de classer les choses du monde ont chacune leur logique. Cependant, les découvertes remettent régulièrement en cause tant les classifications que la justesse des noms, qui doivent alors être changés. En voyageant à travers le temps et l’espace, le visiteur est invité, grâce aux outils de l’anthropologie linguistique et de l’histoire des sciences, à explorer sa place au sein du vivant. Puisqu’un grand pouvoir implique de grandes responsabilités, quelles sont celles des humains, êtres de langage, en ce premier quart du 21ème siècle ?

Llamar a un gato "un gato", dar un nombre justo a las cosas que nos rodean, es buscar saber de qué estamos hablando, entender el mundo. En todas las lenguas y de todos los tiempos, los humanos nombran todo lo que cruza su camino: lo vivo como lo inerte, los otros humanos como los no humanos, lo que está sobre la Tierra o lo que se ve en el cielo. Al nombrar, se distingue, se clasifica, se valora o ... se desvaloriza. Nombrar es un poder que tiene efectos en el mundo.
Este es el poder que la exposición Nommer le vivant, dire le monde propone interrogar. Ante la abundancia del mundo, parece necesario identificar las especies, acordar sobre su nombre. Los saberes populares y científicos conviven, las diferentes maneras de clasificar las cosas del mundo tienen cada una su propia lógica. Sin embargo, los descubrimientos cuestionan regularmente tanto las clasificaciones como la exactitud de los nombres, que deben ser cambiados. Al viajar a través del tiempo y el espacio, el visitante está invitado, gracias a las herramientas de la antropología lingüística y de la historia de las ciencias, a explorar su lugar en el seno de lo vivo. Ya que un gran poder implica grandes responsabilidades, ¿cuáles son las de los seres humanos, seres del lenguaje, en este primer cuarto del siglo XXI?
