Die Botschafter. Jessie Darling
Mit einfachen, minimalistischen und zugleich spektakulären Gesten enthüllen die Skulpturen und Installationen von Jesse Darling die geheimen Erzählungen, die die Gegenstände, Materialien und Formen verfolgen, die unser tägliches Leben bevölkern. Er arbeitet mit industriellen Materialien, gebrauchten Gegenständen oder Abfällen und fügt sie zu ungewöhnlichen Kompositionen, hybriden Relikten oder fantastischen Landschaften zusammen, wobei er die Spuren der Zeit auf ihrem physischen Zustand zwischen Erschöpfung und Verfall betont. um die Fragilität und Unsicherheit hervorzuheben.
Gefärbt von einer Form kritischer Melancholie oder wachsamer Romantik verbindet uns seine Arbeit mit der bewegenden Unsicherheit der uns umgebenden Materialitäten, aber auch mit der der Produktions-, Konsum- und Herrschaftsstrukturen, die sie ermöglicht haben.
Lack mit Schatten. Benoît Piéron
Die Werke von Benoît Piéron bieten Erfahrungen der Zeitsperre, des Wartens, der Halluzination und des Träumens durch den Missbrauch einer funktionellen und sanitären Ästhetik. Indem sie die Sanftheit und das Verlangen wieder dorthin einfügt, wo sie evakuiert wurden, entfaltet der Künstler alternative Erzählungen um Körper, Affekte und Räume, die mit der Krankheit verbunden sind.
Die Ausstellung präsentiert einen erotischen und abstrakten Film in Form eines Schattentheaters, der in einer beunruhigend fremdartigen Inszenierung gezeigt wird. Diese unklare Kulisse, die sowohl dem funktionalen städtischen Design als auch dem Register des Wunderbaren entlehnt ist, formt den Begriff der Vergänglichkeit - von Status, Identitäten, physischen und psychischen Zuständen - zu einem Ort kollektiver Vorstellungskraft.

Das Palais de Tokyo bietet die erste Retrospektive von Cathy de Monchaux, einer bedeutenden Figur der britischen Kunstszene, in einer Sammlung von etwa 50 Werken aus dem Jahr 1984 bis heute an.
Die Ausstellung zwingt uns zwischen epidermalen Begierden und Gefahren, verleitet uns an den Orientierungspunkten, insbesondere der Phallocratie der philosophischen und künstlerischen Sprache. Sie bietet auch ein Spiel von Dimensionen, vom Intimen bis zum Demonstrativen, und von Materialien, vom Korn des Samtes bis zum Eismittel des Metalls. Die Arbeit von Cathy de Montchaux verführt sowohl Formen als auch Emotionen, bis sie diesen Geschmack in unserem Auge hinterlässt: den des Metalls unter der Zunge, wo man sogar innehalten kann.

The ambassadors. Jessie Darling
Through simple, minimal and spectacular gestures, Jesse Darling’s sculptures and installations reveal the clandestine narratives that haunt the objects, materials and forms that inhabit our daily lives. Working with industrial materials, used objects or scrap, he assembles them into unusual compositions, hybrid relics or fantastic landscapes, accentuating the marks of time on their physical state, between exhaustion and degradation, as if to highlight its fragility and precariousness.
Tinged with a form of critical melancholy or romanticism on alert, his work connects us with the moving precariousness of the materialities that surround us, but also that of the structures of production, consumption and domination that have made them possible.

The works of Benoît Piéron offer experiences of suspended time, waiting, hallucination and daydreaming through the diversion of a functional and sanitary aesthetic. By reinserting gentleness and desire where they have been evacuated, the artist deploys alternative narratives around bodies, affects and spaces related to illness.
The exhibition presents an erotic and abstract film in the form of a shadow theatre, projected in a setting of disturbing strangeness. Borrowing from functional urban design as well as the register of the wonderful, this troubled setting gives shape to the notion of impermanence – statuses, identities, physical and mental states – to become a place of collective imagination.

The Palais de Tokyo presents the first retrospective of Cathy de Monchaux, a major figure in the British art scene, through an ensemble of about fifty works dating from 1984 to today.
The exhibition pulls us between desires and epidermal dangers, misuses landmarks, in particular the phallocracy of philosophical and artistic language. It also offers a play of dimensions, from the intimate to the demonstrative, and materials, from the grain of velvet to the chilling of metal. The work of Cathy de Montchaux mixes forms and emotions until leaving this taste in our eye: that of metal under the tongue, where we can even gather.

Attraverso gesti semplici, minimi e spettacolari, le sculture e le installazioni di Jesse Darling rivelano le storie clandestine che assillano gli oggetti, i materiali, le forme che popolano la nostra vita quotidiana. Lavorando con materiali industriali, oggetti usati o scarti, li assembla in composizioni insolite, reliquie ibride o paesaggi fantastici, accentuando i segni del tempo sul loro stato fisico, tra esaurimento e degrado, per sottolinearne la fragilità e la precarietà.
Tingentato da una forma di malinconia critica o di romanticismo in allerta, il suo lavoro ci connette con la commovente precarietà delle materialità che ci circondano, ma anche con quella delle strutture di produzione, di consumo e di dominio che le hanno rese possibili.

Le opere di Benoît Piéron propongono esperienze di tempo sospeso, di attesa, di allucinazione e di sogno attraverso la sottrazione di un'estetica funzionale e sanitaria. Reinserendo dolcezza e desiderio dove sono stati evacuati, l'artista sviluppa racconti alternativi attorno ai corpi, agli affetti e agli spazi legati alla malattia.
L'esposizione presenta un film erotico e astratto sotto forma di un teatro d'ombre, proiettato in una messa in scena di una inquietante stranezza. Attingendo al design funzionale urbano come al registro del meraviglioso, questo scenario confuso dà forma alla nozione di impermanenza - degli statuti, delle identità, degli stati fisici e psichici - per diventare un luogo di immaginazione collettiva.

Il Palais de Tokyo propone la prima retrospettiva di Cathy de Monchaux, figura fondamentale della scena artistica britannica, attraverso un insieme di una cinquantina di opere datate dal 1984 ad oggi.
L'esposizione ci mette in contrasto tra desideri e pericoli epidermici, sfugge ai riferimenti, in particolare alla fallocracia del linguaggio filosofico e artistico. Essa propone anche un gioco di dimensioni, dall'intimo al dimostrativo, e di materiali, dalla grana del velluto al gelificante del metallo. Il lavoro di Cathy de Montchaux malconcia le forme e le emozioni fino a lasciare questo sapore nel nostro occhio: quello del metallo sotto la lingua, dove si può persino raccogliersi.

Par des gestes à la fois simples, minimaux et spectaculaires, les sculptures et installations de Jesse Darling révèlent les récits clandestins qui hantent les objets, matières, formes qui peuplent nos vies quotidiennes. Travaillant avec des matériaux industriels, des objets usagés ou des rebuts, il les assemble en compositions insolites, reliques hybrides ou paysages fantastiques, en accentuant les marques du temps sur leur état physique, entre épuisement et dégradation, comme pour en souligner la fragilité et la précarité.
Teinté d’une forme de mélancolie critique ou de romantisme en alerte, son travail nous connecte avec l’émouvante précarité des matérialités qui nous entourent, mais aussi celle des structures de production, de consommation et de domination qui les ont rendues possibles.

Les œuvres de Benoît Piéron proposent des expériences de temps suspendu, d’attente, d’hallucination et de rêverie par le détournement d’une esthétique fonctionnelle et sanitaire. En réinsérant de la douceur et du désir où ils ont été évacués, l’artiste déploie des récits alternatifs autour des corps, des affects et des espaces liés à la maladie.
L’exposition présente un film érotique et abstrait sous la forme d’un théâtre d’ombres, projeté dans une mise en scène d’une inquiétante étrangeté. Empruntant au design fonctionnel urbain comme au registre du merveilleux, ce décor trouble donne forme à la notion d’impermanence – des statuts, des identités, des états physiques et psychiques – pour devenir un lieu d’imagination collective.

L’exposition nous tiraille entre désirs et dangers épidermiques, malmène les repères, en particulier de la phallocratie du langage philosophique et artistique. Elle propose aussi un jeu de dimensions, de l’intime au démonstratif, et de matières, du grain du velours au glaçant du métal. Le travail de Cathy de Montchaux malaxe les formes comme les émotions jusqu’à laisser ce goût dans notre œil : celui du métal sous la langue, où l’on peut même se recueillir.

Trabajando con materiales industriales, objetos usados o desechos, los monta en composiciones insólitas, reliquias híbridas o paisajes fantásticos, acentuando las marcas del tiempo sobre su estado físico, entre el agotamiento y la degradación, como para subrayar la fragilidad y la precariedad.
Teñida de una forma de melancolía crítica o de romanticismo en alerta, su trabajo nos conecta con la conmovedora precariedad de las materialidades que nos rodean, pero también con la de las estructuras de producción, de consumo y de dominación que las han hecho posibles.

Las obras de Benoît Piéron proponen experiencias de tiempo suspendido, de espera, de alucinación y de sueño mediante el desvío de una estética funcional y sanitaria. Al volver a insertar la dulzura y el deseo donde fueron evacuados, el artista despliega narraciones alternativas en torno a los cuerpos, los afectos y los espacios relacionados con la enfermedad.
La exposición presenta una película erótica y abstracta en forma de un teatro de sombras, proyectada en una puesta en escena de una inquietante rareza. Tomando como base tanto el diseño funcional urbano como el registro del maravilloso, este paisaje turbio da forma a la noción de impermanencia -de los estatutos, las identidades, los estados físicos y psíquicos- para convertirse en un lugar de imaginación colectiva.

El Palais de Tokyo propone la primera retrospectiva de Cathy de Monchaux, figura importante de la escena artística británica, a través de un conjunto de unas cincuenta obras que datan de 1984 hasta hoy.
La exposición nos arrastra entre deseos y peligros epidérmicos, maloriza los puntos de referencia, en particular de la falocracia del lenguaje filosófico y artístico. También propone un juego de dimensiones, desde lo íntimo a lo demostrativo, y de materiales, desde el grano del terciopelo al gelificante del metal. El trabajo de Cathy de Montchaux maltrata las formas como las emociones hasta dejar ese gusto en nuestro ojo: el del metal bajo la lengua, donde incluso podemos meditarlo.
