Choumissa („kleine Sonne“) schildert musikalisch den Weg des Ziryab, des Musikers und Gelehrten, der von Mesopotamien nach Spanien reist und Ägypten und den Maghreb durchquert. Von der persischen Tradition über die jüdisch-provenzalische Folklore bis hin zur arabisch-andalusischen Musik erfindet er neue Instrumente und beeinflusst die Lebenskunst überall dort, wo er hingeht. Ziryab wurde im neunten Jahrhundert zum größten Verband der Musiker und Musikerinnen der Mittelmeerwelt. Choumissa erinnert an die Kreuzung von Kontinenten und Kulturen, eine ungewöhnliche musikalische Reise, die sich an die meisten richtet.

Choumissa (“little sun”) traces in music the journey of Ziryab, musician and scientist who travels from Mesopotamia to Spain, crossing Egypt and the Maghreb. From Persian tradition, to Judeo-Provencal folklore, to Arab-Andalusian music, he invents new instruments and influences the art of living wherever he goes. Ziryab thus becomes in the 9th century, the greatest federator of musicians of the Mediterranean world. Choumissa evokes the intersection of continents and cultures, an extraordinary musical journey, addressing as many people as possible.

Choumissa (“piccolo sole”) ripercorre nella musica il viaggio di Ziryab, musicista e scienziato che viaggia dalla Mesopotamia alla Spagna, attraversando l'Egitto e il Maghreb. Dalla tradizione persiana, al folklore giudeo-provenzale, alla musica arabo-andalusa, inventa nuovi strumenti e influenza l'arte di vivere ovunque vada. Ziryab diventa così nel IX secolo, il più grande federatore di musicisti del mondo mediterraneo. Choumissa evoca l'intersezione di continenti e culture, uno straordinario viaggio musicale che si rivolge al maggior numero possibile di persone.

Choumissa (« petit soleil ») retrace en musique le parcours de Ziryab, musicien et savant qui voyage depuis la Mésopotamie jusqu’en Espagne, en traversant l’Egypte et le Maghreb. De la tradition perse, au folklore judéo-provençal, en passant par la musique arabo-andalouse, il invente de nouveaux instruments et influence l’art de vivre partout où il va. Ziryab devient ainsi au IXème siècle, le plus grand fédérateur des musiciens et musiciennes du monde méditerranéen. Choumissa évoque le croisement des continents et des cultures, un voyage musical hors du commun, s’adressant au plus grand nombre.
