Um 1064-1066 ließ Rivallon, der erste Herr von Combourg, Benediktinermönche aus der Abtei Marmoutier kommen, um ein Priorat in der Nähe seiner Burg zu errichten.
Rund um dieses Priorat entwickelte sich nach und nach ein echtes Viertel, das "Bourg prieural", ein dritter städtischer Knotenpunkt, der zusammen mit der Kirche und der Festung das Stadtzentrum von Combourg nachhaltig strukturierte.

It was around 1064-1066 that Rivallon, the first lord of Combourg, brought in Benedictine monks from the abbey of Marmoutier to establish a priory not far from his castle.
Around this priory developed gradually a real neighborhood, the "priory village", a third urban center which, with the church and the fortress, structured permanently the city center of Combourg.

È verso il 1064-1066 che Rivallon, primo signore di Combourg, fa venire i monaci benedettini dell'abbazia di Marmoutier per stabilire un priorato non lontano dal suo castello.
Intorno a questo priorato si è sviluppato un vero e proprio quartiere, il "borgo prieurale", un terzo polo urbano che, con la chiesa e la fortezza, ha strutturato durevolmente il centro di Combourg.

C’est vers 1064-1066 que Rivallon, premier seigneur de Combourg, fait venir des moines bénédictins de l’abbaye de Marmoutier pour établir un prieuré non loin de son château.
Autour de ce prieuré s’est peu à peu développé un véritable quartier, le « bourg prieural », un 3e pôle urbain qui, avec l’église et la forteresse, a structuré durablement le centre-ville de Combourg.
