Seit 1979 erhebt sich im Herzen eines Unterholzes das Museum der Vorgeschichte von Île-de-France. Das vom Architekten Roland Simounet entworfene Museum spielt mit den Linien des Geländes und vervielfacht die Rahmen zwischen dem Innenraum und dem Wald. Die konstruktive Modernität findet hier ihren Widerhall in der Beständigkeit archaischer Formen, die an ausgehöhlte Räume und Überdachungen erinnern. Als historisches Denkmal ist das Museum heute als ein Meisterwerk der zweiten Moderne in Frankreich anerkannt.

Since 1979, the Prehistory Museum of Île-de-France stands in the heart of a forest. Designed by the architect Roland Simounet, the museum plays with the lines of the ground and multiplies the framings between the interior and the forest. Constructive modernity resonates with the permanence of archaic forms that evoke shelters and dug-up spaces.
