Franck Bohbot : House of Books with an installation by Marie van Berchem
The Manoir de Cologny Cultural Centre is exhibiting a selection of photographs of major heritage libraries. Taken by the renowned photographer Franck Bohbot, these images come from different parts of the world, but all bear witness to the prestige associated with these library spaces, designed as temples to books.
These photographs provide an opportunity to create a space for reflection centred on the library. A contemporary installation by the artist Marie van Berchem, a dialogue with photographs of personal libraries, and a kaleidoscope of texts focusing on this theme will accompany these photographs and serve as a springboard for reflection and imagination.
Born in 1980, Franck Bohbot is a French photographer who explores the extraordinary in everyday life through an aesthetic influenced by classic cinema and painting. He is particularly interested in cultural spaces and human creations: in the age of the artificial image, Bohbot remains deeply attached to reality and seeks to create a timeless and vibrant visual archive that bears witness to the human imprint on the world. His photography aims to embody a ‘poetry of the ordinary’, which he dramatises through his use of light and a distinctive colour palette.

Le Centre culturel du Manoir de Cologny propose une sélection de photographies de grandes bibliothèques patrimoniales. Réalisées par le photographe de renom Franck Bohbot, ces images proviennent de différentes régions du monde, mais témoignent toutes du prestige associé à ces espaces de bibliothèques, pensés comme des temples du livre.
Ces photographies constituent l’occasion d’ouvrir une plage de méditation autour de la bibliothèque. Une installation contemporaine réalisée par l’artiste Marie van Berchem, une mise en dialogue avec des photographies de bibliothèques personnelles ou encore un kaléidoscope de textes centrés sur cette thématique accompagneront ces photographies et agiront comme un tremplin pour la réflexion et l’imagination.
Né en 1980, Franck Bohbot est un photographe français qui explore l’extraordinaire dans le quotidien à travers une esthétique influencée par le cinéma classique et la peinture. Il s’intéresse tout particulièrement aux espaces de culture et aux productions humaines : à l’ère de l’image artificielle, Bohbot reste profondément attaché à la réalité et cherche à produire une archive visuelle intemporelle et vibrante qui témoigne de l’empreinte humaine dans le monde. Sa photographie vise à mettre en oeuvre une «poésie de l’ordinaire» qu’il théâtralise grâce à son travail de la lumière et à une composition singulière des couleurs.
