Die Corey Dennison Band zählt zu den interessantesten Newcomer-Formationen der aktuellen Chicago-Blues Szene. Die Band um den Sänger und Gitarristen Corey Dennison sowie dessen Kumpel, Allrounder Gerry Hundt, wurde erst 2013 gegründet. Mit ihren zwei CD's, beide auf Delmark Records veröffentlicht, und ihren zahlreichen Live-Auftritten haben die Chicago-Blueser in der Zwischenzeit auf sich aufmerksam gemacht. Man spricht hier von einem 'new Chicago sound', der Soul und Blues vermischt, dies jedoch in einer höchst dynamischen Form. Im Vorprogramm spielt das Remo Cavallini Trio.

Formed in 2013, the Corey Dennison Band has become a favorite attraction at Chicago blues venues, including twice-weekly appearances at Kingston Mines. Led by Corey Dennison’s soulful voice and muscular guitar, the band released its self-titled studio debut for the legendary Delmark Records in 2016 after honing 13 original songs night after night on the bandstand. Corey’s decade-long stint with Carl Weathersby and Gerry Hundt’s tenure with Nick Moss are evident on the disc but blend effortlessly into a dynamic new Chicago sound, anchored by Aaron Whittier and drummer Joel Baer. Critics and radio polls responded favorably as the album garnered glowing reviews and constant worldwide airplay, netting chart positions on the Roots Music and Living Blues Radio Reports. Nominations followed suit, with a nod for Best Emerging Artist from the Blues Music Awards, a pair from Blues Blast Magazine, and Grammy balloting. The strength of the band’s repertoire is matched only by the charisma of the stage show; it’s not uncommon to see Corey belting out the blues, unamplified, in the heart of the audience while the band steps in time to the groove. It’s not novelty for these musicians and entertainers, however, it’s exactly where they want to be.
Opening act is the Remo Cavallini Trio (Luxembourg).

Fidèle à sa tradition, le Blues Club s'efforce régulièrement de dénicher des artistes et groupes encore méconnus du grand public. Formé en 2013, le Corey Dennison Band fait partie de ces nouveaux groupes de Chicago qui travaillent dur et sont sur le point de se faire un nom sur la scène nationale et internationale. Proposant deux concerts par semaine au légendaire Kingston Mines sur Lincoln Park à Chicago, un des plus anciens clubs de la ville, la formation du guitariste Corey Dennison s'est entre-temps forgé une solide réputation. En 2016, un premier album sort sur le prestigieux label Delmark. Les critiques de la presse écrite sont unanimes, incitant évidemment les radios locales à passer des morceaux du groupe. Le public découvre ainsi un son quelque peu nouveau, qui, bien sûr, n'est pas révolutionnaire, mais qui insuffle au bon vieux Chicago blues un dynamisme chatoyant.
A noter, que Corey Dennison a fait ses armes au côté de Carl Weathersby, véritable institution de la Windy City, alors que son compère Gerry Hundt fit partie de Nick Moss & The Flip Tops.
Fin 2017, sort un second album du groupe. 'Night after night' mélange savamment blues et soul music, alternant compositions personnelles et reprises, entre autres, de son mentor Carl Weathersby. Pour le quatuor, le passage au Sang a Klang sera une grande première. En lever de rideau, place au groupe luxembourgeois Remo Cavallini Trio.
