The Castle of Roche Amenon owes his name in Amenon, Lord of a châtellenie located on the Left Bank of the Creuse. Of the castle of the XIIIth century it stays only of scattered elements. In the XVIIIth century, Jean Samuel d' Harembure, governor of Poitiers, having bought the castle, made build the classic castle which we see today. In 1809, the count of Vaucelles gives to the building his current physiognomy by increasing him by 2 wings opening fan-shaped on a closed court(yard); limited by dry staves(moats), the Conciergerie and the Chapel. He(It) will have done also up the park and the gardens by crashing some remarkable trees. In the barnyard, surrounded with buildings(ships) Napoleon III, one is visible avoids(flees) the XVIIth century altered in the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries.
