Introduction to scientific botanical illustration (1st session)

Discover the process of illustrating the flowering plants that accompany scientific descriptions and make your own botanical illustration!
Sunday 13 October, 14:30Passed
Gabriela Loza Steinbach

Botanical illustration is a measured, detailed drawing that accompanies descriptions of species in scientific publications. During the workshop, part of a flowering plant will be illustrated, going through all the stages from examining the specimen to drawing in ink. The workshop will cover, among other things, the differences between herbarium material and fresh material as a reference for drawings, how to observe the parts and details of the plant and some pen techniques for line drawings.

This workshop is part of the ”Dimanches au Jardin” series directly linked to the exhibition "La gravure botanique sort au Jardin" included in COLLECTOR.

WARNING: This is a registration-only workshop and is organised in two sessions of an hour and a quarter with a limited number of participants. Please respect the time of the session you are registered to.
