Presents “Zartir”
Powerfully hypnotic, the Gurdjieff Ensemble, founded in Armenia thirteen years ago under the leadership of musician Levon Eskenian, brings together some of the best practitioners of duduk, blul, saz, tar, kamancha, oud, kanon, santur, dap, tmbul, dhol, pku, zurna, kshots and burvar.
The ensemble specializes in paying a particular attention to folk instrumentation and the original arrangements of the great Caucasian composers: Georges I. Gurdjieff, Komitas as well as troubadours and bards from previous centuries.
With “Zartir”, Levon Eskenian and his Gurdjieff Ensemble pays tribute to the great director Sergei Parajanov and his famous film “Sayat Nova / The Color of Pomegranate”.
It traces part of Armenian music from the 18th century to the 20th century with the troubadours Sayat Novat, Ashough Jivani, and finally Gurdjieff.

Présente “Zartir”
Puissamment hypnotique, l'Ensemble Gurdjieff, fondé en Arménie il y a treize ans sous la houlette du musicien Levon Eskenian, regroupe certains des meilleurs praticiens de duduk, blul, saz, tar, kamancha, oud, kanon, santur, dap, tmbul, dhol, pku, zurna, kshots et burvar.
L’ensemble se spécialise dans l’interprétation avec une attention particulière portée à l’instrumentation folklorique et les arrangements originaux des grands compositeurs caucasiens : Georges I. Gurdjieff, Komitas ainsi que des troubadours et bardes des siècles antérieurs.
Avec “Zartir”, Levon Eskenian et son Ensemble Gurdjieff rend hommage au grand réalisateur Sergei Parajanov et son fameux film “Sayat Nova / La Couleur de la Grenade”.
Il retrace une partie de la musique arménienne du 18ème siècle au 20ème siècle avec les troubadours Sayat Novat, Ashough Jivani, et finalement Gurdjieff.
