MEG X Festival cinémas d'Afrique Lausanne : Nome
MEG is joining forces with the Festival cinémas d'Afrique Lausanne (FCAL), which will be held in Lausanne from 15 to 18 August 2024.
As part of the temporary exhibition "Memories. Genève dans le monde colonial" temporary exhibition, a series of films for adults, children and teenagers will be shown between May and December, offering a different approach to the themes addressed by the exhibition.
Part of the programme has been co-constructed with the FCAL, which is sharing a few cinematic nuggets for the occasion.
During the festival, on 18 August to be precise, the Lausanne festival is taking the train to the MEG for a special screening:
Nome, by San Na N'Hada, Guinea-Bissau, Portugal, France, 2023, 117mn, VOstFR
In 1969, a violent war pits the Portuguese colonial army against the guerrillas of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde. Nome leaves his village and joins the maquis. After half a decade of armed struggle, he returned home a hero. But the jubilation soon gives way to disappointment and cynicism. Through a combination of fiction and archive footage, the film offers a lucid but not bitter chronicle of a failed revolution that the director himself filmed at the time.
The screening is free and no registration is required. Please arrive no later than 5 minutes before the start of the film.
As part of and in collaboration with the FCAL.
