As part of the temporary exhibition Environmental Injustice - Indigenous Peoples' Alternatives, which runs until 21 August 2022, the Sunday film is back in action! Films addressing the climate emergency and the impact of environmental change on indigenous and local communities will be screened throughout the exhibition.

In the southern Andes, a being has survived for 200 million years. This is the story of a thousand-year-old tree, the Araucaria Araucana, and its incredible history, little known and forever linked to an Amerindian people of Chile: the Pehuenches. This isolated community has survived for centuries thanks to the Araucaria. A perfect harmony between man and nature, which was soon disrupted by the invasion of the Spanish colonists, territorial conflicts and logging.

Today, the sacred forests are the refuge of a unique and wild nature; but incredible fires still threaten this balance.

What remains of this people and their link with this tree? A fantastic story, a thousand year old struggle in a setting of unsuspected beauty.

Presence of one of the directors to be confirmed.

Film in French.
