Ciné-dimanche X Black-Movie: Pas d'or pour Kalsaka
The MEG museum and the Black Movie Festival are joining forces for the Ciné-dimanche!
The inhabitants of a small village come together to denounce the harmful effects of the exploitation of their natural resources by a multinational company. The construction and operation of the open-pit gold mine, which the population saw as an opportunity for the development of their territory, has left the region bereft and has led to a real social and economic disaster. Will the inhabitants of the region manage to obtain compensation, grumbling about the political connections surrounding the mine and their own ignorance?
A documentary with universal appeal, punctuated by a truculent town crier and three gold-digging horsemen straight out of a western.
Michel K. Zongo's film frankly addresses the issue of environmental injustice and the negative impact it has on the people of the village of Kalsaka, as well as on their culture. These themes are also reflected in the temporary exhibition Environmental Injustice - Indigenous Alternatives.
Film in original version, with French subtitles.
In partnership with the Black Movie festival.
