Online conference on ‘Transformative changes: the role of crises’

Presented by Karen O'Brien, Professor of Human Geography at the Institute of Sociology and Environmental Geography at the University of Oslo.
In its global report published in 2019, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) defined transformative change as “a fundamental, system-wide reorganisation across technological, economic and social factors, including paradigms, goals and values.” This notion encompasses a range of variations, interpretations and challenges which will be
presented to you in this introductory conference.
