To mark the 20th anniversary of its creation and the 11ᵉ edition of the w prize, the wilmotte foundation invited young architects to look at an exceptional site: the abbey of montmajour, an emblematic monument of provençal heritage.
This year, participants were asked to reinterpret areas that are currently inaccessible to the public - in particular the monastery of Saint Maur and the terraced terraces - by combining respect for heritage with creative daring. The challenge was to imagine a future where the ancient and the contemporary interact harmoniously.
A genuine springboard for emerging talent, the w prize has established itself over the past 20 years as a laboratory of ideas dedicated to the relationship between memory and innovation, a forum for reflection where the architecture of tomorrow is constructed.

the wilmotte foundation
created 20 years ago, the wilmotte foundation - which grew out of the international architecture agency wilmotte & associés, founded by jean-michel wilmotte - works to promote and enhance architecture.
Its mission: "to dream up the architecture of tomorrow, to bring heritage back to life, to bring history up to date, to extend the imagination of creators. "
the foundation aims to act as a bridge between learning and reflection, training and action, supporting emerging architects as they explore the relationship between heritage and modernity.

À l’occasion des 20 ans de sa création et de la 11ᵉ édition du Prix W, la Fondation Wilmotte a invité de jeunes architectes à poser leur regard sur un lieu exceptionnel : l’abbaye de Montmajour, monument emblématique du patrimoine provençal.
Cette édition proposait aux participants de réinterpréter des espaces aujourd’hui inaccessibles au public — notamment le monastère Saint-Maur et les terrasses en restanques — en alliant respect du patrimoine et audace créative. L’enjeu : imaginer un avenir où l’ancien et le contemporain dialoguent avec harmonie.
Véritable tremplin pour les talents émergents, le Prix W s’affirme depuis 20 ans comme un laboratoire d’idées dédié à la relation entre mémoire et innovation, un espace de réflexion où se construit l’architecture de demain.
Après la remise des prix et la présentation des projets lauréats à la Biennale d’architecture de Venise en mai dernier, le Centre des monuments nationaux et la Fondation Wilmotte invitent désormais le public à découvrir les projets primés au cœur même de l’abbaye de Montmajour, du 11 décembre 2025 au 30 janvier 2026.

La Fondation Wilmotte
Créée il y a 20 ans, la Fondation d’entreprise Wilmotte — issue de l’agence internationale d’architecture Wilmotte & Associés, fondée par Jean-Michel Wilmotte — œuvre pour la promotion et la valorisation de l’architecture.
Sa mission : « Rêver l’architecture de demain, faire renaître le patrimoine, actualiser l’histoire, prolonger l’imagination des créateurs. »
La fondation se veut un passeur entre l’apprentissage et la réflexion, la formation et l’action, accompagnant les architectes émergents dans leur exploration des relations entre héritage et modernité.
