The saxophone/guitar/drums trio is an eternal passion for Nicolas Masson. Over the years, he has formed various groups around this line-up, culminating in the mid-2010s with two albums on ECM Records with the trio Third Reel. The meeting of Nicolas Masson and Rob Luft at a jam session in the summer of 2021 was a turning point, and the desire to set up a project together quickly became apparent. The trio format was an obvious choice, and all it took was the arrival of drummer Valentin Liechti to make the magic happen.
Between their own compositions and reinterpretations of melodies ranging from Tomasz Stanko to traditional songs from the American South, the three musicians in this new group know no limits to the vast horizons open to them.
Nicolas Masson, tenor saxophone
Valentin Liechti, drums
Rob Luft, electric guitar
