Egyptian avant-garde filmmaker, Youssef Chahine (1926-2008) sheds light on the socio-cultural issues of Africa and also Arabs through a universal dimension with a critical eye where humor and joy pulsate to cauterize the horror created by people who trample their humanity. The Institut des Afriques celebrates the centenary of this great director through an evening of music and open-air cinema at the Villa Valmont de Lormont. On the program: a festive DJ-set by DJOMBO to plunge into the world of Youssef Chahine followed by a screening of "The Sixth Day", Chahine’s cult film, under the stars.

Cineasta egiziano d'avanguardia, Youssef Chahine (1926-2008) illumina le sfide socio-culturali africane e anche arabe con una dimensione universale con uno sguardo critico in cui l'umorismo e la gioia pulsano per cauterizzare l'orrore creato dalle persone che calpestano la loro umanità. L'Institut des Afriques celebra il centenario di questo grande regista con una serata di musica e cinema all'aperto a Villa Valmont de Lormont. In programma: un dj-set festivo di DJOMBO per immergersi nell'universo di Youssef Chahine seguito da una proiezione de "Il sesto giorno", film cult di Chahine, sotto le stelle.
