Abstract
Flow cytometry is a powerful technology that enables the rapid characterization of thousands of individual cells within seconds using fluorescent markers. This approach allows the identification, quantification, and discrimination of distinct cell populations from heterogeneous samples based on their phenotypic and functional characteristics.
Flow cytometry has a wide range of applications, including immunophenotyping, the detection of cell surface and intracellular proteins, multiplex cytokine assays, cell cycle analysis, and the characterization of cells expressing fluorescent reporter proteins such as GFP, mCherry, and other fluorophores.
During this seminar, we will present the flow cytometry technologies and instrumentation available on the CytomeTRI platform, with a particular focus on the newly acquired BD FACSDiscover A8. This next-generation spectral flow cytometer combines high-dimensional spectral analysis with integrated imaging technology, enabling the simultaneous detection of a large number of fluorescent parameters while reconstructing images of individual cells as they pass through the instrument. We will highlight how these innovative capabilities open new opportunities for addressing increasingly complex biological questions.
