In August 1942, Jean-Baptiste Laplagne bequeathed to the department the domain of Vaseix. A few years later, the department made the castle, the rose garden and the park available to the Ministry of Agriculture. The latter set up an agricultural household school there in 1954\. A new plot of more than three hectares opened a winter agricultural school that quickly became a regional school around which were built, to the north, the buildings of the boys' agricultural school in 1962\. All of the new buildings were designed by the architect Louis Mandon-Joly (1898-1973). At the same time, the women’s agricultural college was set up, further south, around the castle. Very quickly, applications for registration exploded. To meet the needs, extensions were built from 1969 for these two structures, bringing from 240 to 480 the number of students that could be accommodated at the high school.
