About the location

Lycée Auguste Renoir
119 rue Sainte-Claire, 87000 Limoges
  • Haute-Vienne
  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Built in the early 1960s by architect Bernard Pécaud, the Lycée Renoir was originally an educational institution for young girls. It is built on the site of an old Gallo-Roman villa called «Villa Sainte-Claire» whose remains are still visible today. Opened in October 1962, the Lycée Auguste-Renoir opened in September 1968\. Michel Tourlière, cardboard painter, proposes in 1972, as part of the 1% artistic tapestry entitled «Algae Boat». The Goubley-Gatien workshop in Aubusson executes it. Originally planned for the entrance hall, this tapestry now decorates a meeting room.
