Guided tours of the factory with Pierre-Antoine Monédière, local coordinator of Argentat and animator of the Chastang dam for the Dordogne Valley Tourist Office.
Visits are scheduled on Saturdays at 9:30 am, 11 am and 3 pm, as well as on Sundays at 9 am, 2 pm and 4 pm.Lectures on the history of the Chastang dam will also be offered by Agnès Brahim-Giry, researcher and head of the Research Unit at the Regional Heritage and Inventory Service of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The conferences will take place at the Odyssélec space on Saturday at 5pm and on Sunday at 11am.
The development of the Chastang dam is the most important, the most downstream and the last project on the Dordogne. Built between 1946 and 1951, it is part of a global project to develop the Dordogne. At that time, it formed with the Argentat compensation dam the last significant link in the hydroelectric development of the high and middle Dordogne.
At the conference, Agnès BRAHIM-GIRY will review the history of the construction of this dam, an industrial symbol that marked the history of dams in Corrèze thanks to the technical challenges met.
