A masterful interpretation of the art of the flower garden, the Saint-Jean de Beauregard vegetable garden is one of the favourite destinations for garden lovers around the world. Natural extension of the dovecote and typical of the vegetable gardens of the seventeenth century, it has been completely restored according to the original plans preserved in the archives.
With its four thousand five hundred boulins, the dovecote of Saint-Jean de Beauregard is one of the largest in Ile-de-France. Its double swivel ladder, 12 meters high and its spectacular framework make it an essential point of the visit of the Domain.
Almost all of the park remained “à la française”. Planted with oaks, ash trees, chestnuts and charms, natural species in the region, it is crisscrossed by alleys in stars forming beautiful perspectives, and, at their intersection, clearings with cabinet of greenery, if we believe the plans of the eighteenth century. Part of the park was transformed into English in the early nineteenth century, allowing the creation of a pond and the introduction of new species of trees for the time: cedars, horse chestnuts in particular.
