Free visit of the garden of Tatihou
Set on the sea, the gardens of Tatihou surprise visitors with their diversity tinged with exoticism. A small Moroccan garden welcomes them as soon as they enter the walled enclosure of the island. Protected from spray, agave, wormwood, monk’s gattilier, argan tree or cannes de Provence invite you to travel. In the same atmosphere, the acclimatization garden displays its luxuriance. Giant echiums of the Canaries stand there, surrounded by aeoniums, arborescent aloe or honey-bearing euphorbias. A palm grove even took place in its yards! These plants from different regions of the world rub shoulders with the native flora. A few steps away, the garden of discoveries reconstructs the different coastal natural environments of the Channel and the Atlantic. Sea cabbage, samphire, common viper or oyat grow in interaction with each other. This is the prelude to the discovery of the large maritime garden which is of modern architecture with its green terraces. The coastal plants are grouped in thematic areas related to the maritime history of the island (fumigations in use in the 18th century, species used in shipbuilding etc...). Tatihou Island offers an exceptional botanical walk, enriching and exotic.
