The Buffon museum-site proposes a route(course) through the history of science, the offices of curiosity to the first Museums, by becoming attached to two personalities born in Montbard: Georges-Louis Leclerc, count of Buffon ( 1707-1788 ) and Louis Jean-Marie Daubenton ( 1716-1800 ). Two rooms of temporary exhibition(exposure) propose, in connection with the collections of the museum, a discovery of the artistic and scientific inheritance of two famous naturalists.
The Park Buffon Aménagé by the naturalist Buffon between 1733 and 1742, this park is confidentially connected to the history(story) of the castle of the dukes of Burgundy on which it is built. Classified as "Historic Monument" in 1947, this historic garden and its fourteen terraces offer a remarkable view(sight) on the valley of Brenne. The naturalist also made it build his study, small building which contains the memory(souvenir) of the monumental Natural history.
