About the location

Parc Boussard
43 rue de Verdun 91510 Lardy
  • Essonne
  • Île-de-France
An Art Deco garden in the heart of a village. It is an unusual and rare coquetterie in Ile-de-France. The garden evokes the architecture of the Mediterranean that inspired the artists of the 1930s. It was the famous Art Deco era during which science revolutionized society. In 1927, Henri Boussard, a wine merchant and patron of numerous artists and writers, called upon a renowned architect, Joseph Marrast, since his distinguished participation in the exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. Thus the garden owes nothing to classicism nor to the English parks. On either side of a water road, dialogue takes place between the novelty of concrete and the tradition of mosaics, the red of bricks and the green of boxwood, the pure lines and the natural of the undergrowth. The Boussard Park is included in the additional inventory of Historical Monuments.
