Quinta de Villar d'Allen
Rua do Freixo, 194
Villar d'Allen is a living example of the nineteen-century landscape design, eclectic architecture, and sumptuous decoration, just a 10-minute drive from Porto’s downtown.
Designed by John Allen, the gardens are literally a collection of plants and trees, original from all continents, most of them counting more than 150 years of age. Inside the mansion, you can visit living rooms and library with its original furniture, curtains, porcelain, and all decoration from 1840’s.
The Allen family has English origins, but proudly counts 10 generations of Allens in Portugal, and loves to share with visitors many fascinating details about the family's history.
